 UFM was first established in Japan in 1951.
By the early 80s, they had become renown for being the first Japanese company to produce fishing rod blanks in Japan with carbon material used in the aircraft industry.
In the 90s, whilst many other rod manufacturers began to move their factories and outsources their rod manufacturing processes into lower cost markets, UFM, chose not to follow this trend but to remain in Japan and focus on product innovation to ensure that it could produce cutting edge rods of its day.
Till this day, UFM continue to design and manufacture their own blanks and rods in Japan with that same mindset of leading rather than following market trends, paying close attention to every aspect of the blank design and manufacturing process.
Every design aspect of their rod range is unique in its own right with the best of materials and components being used with their focus in mind to keeping their rods as light and user friendly as possible.
