To many sea bass anglers, the Megabass Zonk 120 Gataride lure is considered to be, one of the best, sea bass shore plugs to have ever been created. This lure is designed to run super shallow at the same depth (15 – 30cm) that sea bass are known to feed at, when schooling over mudflats and shallow rocky current-swept shorelines. In addition, the Megabass Zonk 120 Gataride’s casting distance is legendary, attributable to 3 key design features: (1) Its narrow aerodynamic profile; (2) Its “tungsten ball bearings “casting system; and
(3) Its unique movable hinged bib, that levels up when cast to reduce drag coefficient (which then returns to the down position when retrieved) - watch the video on how to protect the bib of your Gataride lure below. Megabass offers 2 different models of Zonk 120 Gataride depending on the shape and size of the bib: (a) The “Yoro-Yoro” model; and (b) The “Hi-Pitch” models.
The latter has a slightly longer and straighter edged bib that provides for a sharper rolling action, whilst the former has a shorter rounder bib that dives a little shallower, whilst creating a gentler rolling action that is suited for top water action. The Megabass Zonk 120 Gataride does not have any rattlers but comes with a water port on the top of the body to create water displacement and presumably to send out all the right signals to attract sea bass. All in all, Megabass Zonk 120 Gataride is considered an all-time “classic” and should be part of any sea bass angler’s arsenal of lures. |
